Paris – Outlet shopping at La Vallee

If you would like to take home some luxury goods at a fraction of the regular retail price, then La Vallee is for you.

La Vallee is one of a collection of chic outlet shopping villages, which also has branches in London, Dublin, Frankfurt, Munich, Milan, Barcelona and Madrid. The available brands and range of goods on offer at each store are similar across the villages, though prices do vary slightly depending on local pricing, taxes and exchange rates. For instance, I found adult fashion to be cheaper at La Vallee while kidswear was more affordable at Bicester Village in London owing to the fact that childrens’ clothing is tax exempt in the UK. Some of the more popular stores at La Vallee include Burberry, Longchamp, Paul Smith and Salvatore Ferragamo.

Getting there:
By car: 35mins east of Paris on the A4 and just a stone’s throw away from Paris Disneyland.

By bus: La Vallee offers a shuttle service known as the Shopping Express, which offers 2 daily departures from the Place des Pyramides in central Paris, situated between the Tuileries garden and the Louvre (see map below). The earlier service departs at 9.30am and returns from La Vallee at 2.30pm, with a later service at 12.30pm and returning at 5pm. Return tickets are €22 for adults and €11 for 3-11yo children. Children under 3 travel for free. Tickets can be purchased online here.

By train: From Paris, take the RER A4 line and alight at Val d’Europe/Serris Montevrain station. A door-to-door free shuttle service runs every 15 minutes from the station to La Vallee on Sundays. Otherwise, it is a roughly 10-15 minute walk either by or through a shopping centre to get there.

Opening times: Daily 10am-7pm except Saturdays when you can shop until 8pm.

Services/important info: Free wifi is available throughout the village for bored boyfriends/husbands/fathers or those who would like to instantly show off their spoils. Non-EU residents should remember to ask for tax free shopping documents if they spend more than €175 at any store. You can also earn frequent flyer miles if you are affiliated with Lufthansa, Air France, KLM, Virgin Atlantic, Alitalia, Malaysia Airlines or British Airways, amongst others. If necessary, the welcome centre offers complimentary loans of umbrellas and wheelchairs. You can even sign up for a personal stylist or a hands free shopping service. And when you’re hungry or simple need to rest your legs, there are a variety of food and beverages available including Starbucks and Pret.

So go on, treat yourself, and tell me about the bargains that you find at La Vallee!
