Read this: The Road Les Traveled

The talk of the month amongst my loved ones has been bucket lists. More on that and mine in an upcoming post.

Most of us have come to the conclusion that we need to be more proactive in ticking off those bucket list items. To that end, I’ve spent much of my weekend researching a location that has long sat on my list, seemingly out of grasp due to lack of funds. Oh, and a significant other.

My research brought me to this post about the Six Senses Laamu Resort in the Maldives. (All photo credits: Lesley Murphy, from her fabulous blog)

Aside from inspiring a serious case of “get me there! NOW!”, it was also a refreshing revelation to me that the Maldives need not be synonymous with honeymooning. Whether it be a girly weekend or a solo health retreat, I am now determined to make this happen for me next year.

Once I got over the excitement – and yes, I DO get excited over vague travel plans even if they’re still a year or more away – I began to browse more carefully through this new blog I had stumbled upon. Now, I have never watched an episode of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, so I had absolutely no clue who this Lesley Murphy is. But her ethos of embracing adventure together with luxury travel exactly embodies my own travel philosophy, and before long, I was hooked. So much so that I just had to share her fantastic blog with you all.  How great is this photo?!

Not only is the content visually stunning, Miss Murphy is, on top of being a pretty face, incredibly articulate and easy to read. And her posts are carefully proofread, unlike many other travel blogs out there. Is it just me or does anyone else get annoyed at the incorrect usage of “its” and “it’s“? WHY do so many travel bloggers not realise there is no such things as “its’“? As you can tell, I’m somewhat of a word nerd, and Miss Murphy’s cleverly named blog and well written posts certainly catapulted her into girl crush territory. The Road Les Traveled? Exactly the sort of play on words that warms my nerdy heart.

But don’t just take my word for it. Go check it out for yourselves. And if there’s only 1 post you read, make sure it’s this one about some fantastic hotels you should book yourselves into just for the bathtubs. NOW!  What a clever perspective!
