About

The title says it all. I love food (noms). I love travelling. And I’ve always loved talking about it to whoever would listen to me. So when I realised my friends were asking me about where to go on holiday, how to get around, what to see there, where to eat and stay, as well as where to eat locally and what recipes I’ve tried…I decided to write it all down here. And now I’ve discovered I love blogging about it too!

Here, you will find posts about:
-A range of travel tips, for instance suggestions of where to go for your next holiday.
-Suggestions of things to do at various destinations, for example in London.
-Reviews of tourist attractions, like this one of Leeds Castle in England.
-Restaurant reviews, like this one of Marumo in Perth.
-Reviews of recipes I’ve tried, like this 30 minute Jamie Oliver fish chowder recipe.

If you’d like more information about a specific place, please leave a comment. If I’ve been there, I’ll blog about it. If not, I wouldn’t mind doing a bit of research – it might just mean it gets added to my ever expanding bucket list!

And if you’d like to come with me on my future adventures, you’re welcome to follow me too.

Now for some random facts:
-I have a thing for red shoes! I have at least 10 pairs!
-My preferred dessert flavours – used to be all things chocolate, but over time, I seem to have come to favour citrus and salty caramel.
-Pet peeve – improper usage of their/they’re/there and its/it’s, not to mention people who don’t realise there’s no such thing as its’, arrgghh!!!
-Places I really really really want to go and haven’t – Galapagos, Easter Island, Antarctica, Torres del Paine… see a trend here?
-I have a fear of heights.
-Despite that, I love climbing tall structures wherever I go! I can’t help myself – I keep thinking, “There must be a good view from up there.”
-I work cooped up in a laboratory. This probably explains my need to go out into the world and explore, and also to balance my scientific side with some creative pursuits. Like blogging.
-I was born in Malaysia, spent my formative years in England, back to Malaysia for primary school, moved to Queensland, Australia for high school and Western Australia for university, worked for a couple of years all over the UK, and am now back in sunny Perth, Western Australia. I think this also explains my insatiable desire and need to travel. I start feeling restless if I’m in one place for too long!
-I speak English, Mandarin and 2 other Chinese dialects (reasonably well), Malay (used to speak it well but am now very rusty), a bit of Japanese, and a teeny little bit of German. I’d like to learn French.
-I am a compulsive list-maker.

Haha! I like your pet peeve. I’ve got similar pet peeves. People who mispronounce the word height. They say heighth. Aargh! And also, nuclear. They say nucular. Aargh! It makes me crazy!

Hi! Thanks so much for the positive feedback. I’m so sorry I didn’t get back to you earlier. I’ve been at a work conference all weekend and overlooked your message until now. Back to work again this week, which means I’m doing a 12 days in a row stretch – wow, I really need a holiday! 🙂

Anyway, thanks for asking me to be a guest poster. I would love to, but I’ve already agreed to do 2 guest posts for someone else, then I’ll be busy packing and preparing for my big trip to Germany! How about doing our guest posts for each other in January when I’m back from my holiday? Maybe you can “follow” me on my trip to Germany and let me know what you like best, and let me know what you’d like my guest post to be about? Or do you already have an idea of what you’d like me to write about?

Wow thanks, what an honour! I’d love to accept it, but need a bit of time to put some thought into it. Have just got back from my last trip, so will work on it once I’ve recovered 🙂

Hi Janet, thanks so much for the message. I had a look at your blog and it looks fab! I’ve been thinking I need to create a “contact” page at some stage, but you know how it’s like. Too few hours in a day and blogging is more fun than playing around with the layout/theme :p Anyway, I’d love to hear from you at bibtie@hotmail.com 🙂

      Hi Saul,

Sorry about that, and thanks for following up. I was on my way interstate to attend a friend’s wedding when I got your last message, and forgot to follow up on it. Yes, I would be interested in your proposal. Please let me know what’s involved, and how the revenue stream would work.

      Thanks,
      Bibiana
